Positively Nutritious is a unique program at ACSNJ that acknowledges the special nutritional needs of those living with HIV/AIDS as well as the financial burdens that often surround this illness.
Located in Camden, our Positively Nutritious Program provides nutritionally balanced groceries to low-income individuals and families who are dealing with HIV/AIDS and living in Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, and Salem counties. Grocery bags contain a variety of food items covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as snacks. Clients are given enough food to last for three days per person.
In addition, through a collaboration with MANNA, Positively Nutritious is able to meet the nutritional needs of clients who are unable to prepare a meal for themselves, who are experiencing significant medical difficulties, and/or who have special dietary restrictions. MANNA meals are completely cooked and can be delivered frozen or hot.
How it works…
-
Interested clients call their case manager who then completes a
Positively Nutritious application.
-
Eligibility for Positively Nutritious is then determined according to
federal poverty guidelines.
-
Once approved for the program, a meal delivery schedule is devised.
-
Clients are able to receive their meals or groceries within 3 to 5 days
of application submission.
Positively
Nutritious benefits greatly from the generosity of many local
supermarkets, farmers, coffee shops, Philabundance, the USDA,
and
several private foundations, companies, and organizations.
For more information on Positively Nutritious or if you would like to volunteer, please contact our Positively Nutritious Coordinator, Jackie Acero, at (856) 338-1650.
* Donations of food items and financial contributions are always welcome.
No one should have to experience hunger.
