- New Jersey ranks 1st in the number of women with HIV/AIDS
- 35% of those living with HIV/AIDS are females.
- 4 out of every 5 of them are minorities.
- The majority of them are African American.
- 3 out of 4 females with HIV/AIDS are 20-49 years old.
- New Jersey ranks 3rd in the number of pediatric HIV/AIDS cases.
- 86% of pediatric cases living with HIV/AIDS are minorities.
- New Jersey ranks 5 th in the number of HIV/AIDS cases in the United States
- 32,401 people reported living with HIV/AIDS as of June 30, 2004.
- Minorities account for 78% of all people living with HIV/AIDS.
- Over half of persons with HIV/AIDS are Non-Hispanic Blacks.
- 2/3 of people living with HIV/AIDS are 40 years of age or older.
- Intravenous drug use and sexual contact remain the major method of exposure to HIV.
- Sexual contact cases are increasing.
- Camden County has 2470 cumulative HIV/AIDS case
- Burlington County has 946 cumulative HIV/AIDS cases
- Gloucester County has 494 cumulative HIV/AIDS cases
- Salem County has 262 cumulative HIV/AIDS cases
