HIV Prevention Program
This program provides HIV/AIDS prevention and education services for individuals considered to be at high risk for exposure to HIV. ACSNJ’s prevention program is housed at our Ray of Hope Drop-in Center at 523 Stevens Street in Camden, New Jersey. Our HIV Prevention Specialists work with clients one-on-one, as couples or in groups and offer services in English and Spanish. Through this program clients receive HIV counseling and testing using the Oraquick Advance Rapid Test (this test can determine a person’s HIV status in 20 to 40 minutes). If a client receives a positive HIV test, our caring and supportive staff will help the client address their situation in a comforting and reassuring manner.

In addtion, our HIV Prevention Specialists are trained to assist individuals with understanding the behaviors that put them at risk for contracting or spreading HIV and Hepatitis C. This program offers two CDC approved group educational interventions – one is designed to to help adults learn and incorporate condom-using skills with their partners and the other cover the same topic but focuses on active drug users and those who may be sharing needles.
The goal of ACSNJ’s HIV Prevention Program is to reduce the spead of preventable diseases by helping participants make healthier choices through education by compassionate, non-judgemental and knowledgeable staff.
